Mean Girls (2024)

Mean Girls (2024) sings and dances its way into theaters this weekend. This film follows Cady Heron who recently started a new high school and is quickly welcomed into the social elite by a group of popular girls known as the Plastics, led by the manipulative Regina George. However, when Cady makes the mistake of falling for Regina's ex-boyfriend, she finds herself targeted and entangled in their web of drama.

What follows is The Good, The Bad, and NO Spoilers of Mean Girls (2024).

The Good

Mean Girls (2024) features an impressive selection of songs and well-executed musical sequences. The film maintains the comedic charm of its predecessors while offering a fresh take on the classic coming-of-age story, delivering humor and relatable themes with an engaging modern twist. I also enjoyed the couple blatant throwbacks to the original 2004 film.

The Bad

Unfortunately, Mean Girls (2024) is a film adapted from a musical, which in turn was based on an earlier movie. As a result, the storyline feels highly predictable, and the film struggles to offer anything distinctive or groundbreaking. In fact, several elements from the musical were cut to fit the film format, including the reduction of my favorite song, which was disappointing.

My Overall Opinion

I give Mean Girls (2024) a disappointing 6 out of 10.
