The Beekeeper
The newest Jason Statham action movie The Beekeeper arrives in theaters this weekend. The film follows a man who witnesses a great injustice that leads to the unnecessary death of someone who has been kind to him. His relentless quest for revenge escalates to national significance when it is revealed that he is a former operative of a powerful and secretive organization known as the Beekeepers.
What follows is The Good, The Bad, and NO Spoilers of The Beekeeper.
The Good
The Beekeeper revolves around a compelling narrative that affects many individuals, focusing on identity theft and financial exploitation. Given the frequent news coverage of these crimes, particularly their impact on the elderly, it is satisfying to watch a fictional portrayal of these criminals facing justice. The action sequences are precisely what one would expect from a Jason Statham film, delivering thrilling and engaging moments that do not disappoint.
The Bad
While I appreciate the premise of a secret government organization dedicated to protecting the people of the United States, it lacked a sense of realism. This feeling was further diminished during the confrontation between Statham and the current Beekeeper at a gas station. The character appeared unusually unhinged for someone whose role as a secret operative is solely focused on safeguarding others, which seemed to counter what the movie was trying to set up with the organization.
My Overall Opinion
I give The Beekeeper a resounding 9 out of 10.
