Road House (2024)

Amazon MGM Studios just released its newest film on Prime Video, the remake Road House (2024). This film follows former UFC fighter Dalton, who takes on a job as a bouncer at a roadhouse in the Florida Keys. He quickly realizes that this seemingly perfect paradise has a darker side.

What follows is The Good, The Bad, and NO Spoilers of Road House (2024).

The Good

Road House (2024) stands out as a rare and successful remake, effectively paying homage to the original while updating it for a contemporary audience. The film skillfully incorporates iconic scenes and Easter eggs for fans of the original, while also modernizing the story. One highlight for me was the moment when Dalton, mirroring the original, observes the environment for the first few days before stepping into action. Additionally, the film introduces a bit more comedy than its predecessor, which adds a refreshing touch at times.

The Bad

At times, the comedy felt somewhat excessive, detracting from scenes that would have benefited from a more serious tone. This occasionally interrupted the flow of the film and caused me to lose focus. While this happened a few times, it may not have been felt the same way by others watching the movie.

My Overall Opinion

I give Road House (2024) an 8 out of 10.
