A Quiet Place: Day One
Finally everyone gets to see what happened when the aliens from A Quiet Place (2018) arrived on Earth in the new film A Quiet Place: Day One. When New York City is struck by an alien invasion, a woman and a group of survivors must find a way to safety. They quickly discover that they must remain completely silent, as the enigmatic creatures are attracted to even the faintest noise.
What follows is The Good, The Bad, and NO Spoilers of A Quiet Place: Day One.
The Good
A Quiet Place: Day One delivers on the long-awaited concept of witnessing the chaos unleashed by sound-hunting aliens in a modern city. The action, brutality, and confusion unfold exactly as viewers might expect, creating a gripping atmosphere. One standout detail is the scene where helicopters fly overhead, prompting a swarm of aliens to charge across the city in pursuit of sounds they cannot capture. Lupita Nyong’o delivers an exceptional performance, skillfully navigating the intense challenge of fighting for her life on two separate fronts.
The Bad
The film left me wanting in one key area: it introduces the aliens but provides no backstory regarding their origins. I had hoped this installment would offer at least some glimpses into the creatures' background, but unfortunately, it does not. Additionally, I was disappointed by the scene featuring the aliens creating what appeared to be a nest—or possibly a food farm. This moment presented an opportunity to delve into the creatures' behaviors or motives, but instead, it leaves viewers with no additional context. Audiences are left to interpret the scene on their own, which feels like a missed opportunity for deeper storytelling.
My Overall Opinion
I give A Quiet Place: Day One an 7 out of 10.
